PowerXL DH1 - How to set current limit parameter P5.1.2

In this video you will learn how to set the Current limit parameter P5.1.2 for the Eaton PowerXL DH1.

The Current Limit Parameter P5.1.2, determines the maximum motor current output from the PowerXL DH1 VFD.  When the motor current reaches the P5.1.2 amperage value, the VFD will limit the motor speed to control the motor current level.

Here’s how you set current limit or the P5.1.2 parameter:

  1. In the Main menu place the cursor bar on Parameters and press the right arrow key or the OK key.
  2. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the P5 Motor Control menu and press the right arrow key or the OK key.
  3. P5.1 Basic Settings will display, press OK.
  4. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to P5.1.2 Current limit menu and press the right arrow key or the OK key.
  5. The numeric value in amperage (A) will blink, indicating that the value can be changed.  Use the up and/or down arrows to change the value of the current limit amperage.  Press the OK key when the desired amperage is reached.  The value will stop blinking, indicating the new value is set.

The current limit can also be set in the startup wizard.

Here are the recommended current limit P5.1.2 settings for the Power XL DH1 VFD.

  • For variable torque loads, pump and fan loads the P5.1.2 Current limit is set 110-125% of the motor nameplate full load amperage (FLA).
