PowerXL DG1 - How to navigate the parameter menu with keypad

In this video we will walk you through of how to navigate the parameter menu with the keypad of the Eaton PowerXL DG1.

The Eaton PowerXL DG1 VFD has a user-friendly keypad. 

The menu structure is:

  • Main Menu
  • Menus 
  • Submenus 
  • Parameters

The Main Menu has seven menus and is designated TPM in the upper right of the display screen.

The 7 menus are:

  • M for Monitor or MON
  • P for Parameters or PAR
  • F for Faults or FLT
  • B For Oprtional Boards or BOA
  • T for Favorite or FAV
  • O for Operate Mode or OPE
  • S for Startup Wizard or QSW

The Parameters Main Menu has 21 submenus and is designated PAR in the upper right of the display screen. Please note, not all submenus are available in Standard Application, Multi-Pump Application and Multi-PID Application. All submenus are visible in Multipurpose Application.

The 21 Submenus are:

  • P1-Basic Parameters
  • P2-Analog Input
  • P3-Digital Input
  • P4-Analog Output
  • P5-Digital Output
  • P6-Logic Function (Multi-Purpose)
  • P7-Drive Control
  • P8-Motor Control
  • P9-Protectons
  • P10-PID Controller1
  • P11-PID Controller2 (Multi-PID, Multi-Purpose)
  • P12-Preset Speed
  • P13-Torque Control (Multi-Purpose)
  • P14-Brake
  • P15-Fire Mode
  • P16-Second Motor Par
  • P17-Bypass
  • P18-Multi-Pump Ctrl
  • P19-Real Time Clock
  • P20-Communication
  • P21-System

Use the keypad left arrow, right arrow, up arrow, down arrow, back/reset and OK buttons to navigate the menus. The alphanumeric menu designations build on the menu structure.

Here are some examples:

Example 1:  P1.3 (Accel Time 1) --- P designates the Parameters menu, 1 the Basic Parameters submenu and 3 the parameter number in the submenu.

  1. To navigate to the P1.3, highlight Parameters in the main menu, press the right arrow or OK key to enter the submenu. 
  2. With the cursor on submenu P1 (Basic Parameters) press the right arrow or OK key to enter the submenu.  
  3. Use the down arrow and stop the cursor on P1.3 (Accel time 1) and press the right arrow of OK key.  
  4. The numeric value, in seconds, will begin to blink---blinking indicates the value is editable and can be changed.
  5. Use the up and/or down arrows to increase or decrease the value.
  6.  When the desired value is displayed press the OK key and the numeric value will stop blinking indicating the new value is set.  
  7. Acceleration time is now 10 seconds.

 

Example 2:  P3.9 (Run Enable) --- P designates the Parameters menu, 3 the Digital Input submenu and 9 the Parameter number in the submenu.

  1. To navigate to the P3.9, highlight Parameters in the main menu, press the right arrow or OK key to enter the submenu. 
  2. With the cursor on submenu P1 (Basic Parameters) press the down arrow 2 times to place the cursor on P3 (Digital Input) submenu and press OK or right arrow to enter the P3 submenu.
  3. Press the down arrow 8 times to place the cursor on P3.9 (Run Enable) and press OK or right arrow to enter the P3.9 parameter.
  4. Press the right arrow key and the text of the P3.9 parameter assignment will blink, indicating it can be changed.
  5. Use the up and/or down arrows to increase or decrease the value.
  6. When the desired value is displayed press the OK key and the numeric value will stop blinking indicating the new value is set.  
  7. Run Enable function is now assigned to DI7.
