With Eaton’s broad product breadth, custom designs were created to optimize size, features and cost for each system voltage. The 15kV system design included Eaton’s 15kV VacClad medium-voltage switchgear because of its integral control power capability. The 38kV system design was optimized with Eaton’s Power Xpert IGX compact medium-voltage switchgear, a solution that provides a 70% reduction in the 38kV distribution equipment footprint.

Less space equals less cost. By including the Power Xpert IGX for the 38kV solution, Eaton was able to reduce the e-house size by 86% and save the customer over $3M in e-house cost.

Less space needed for future growth. Extra space was required on both sides of the lineup as a provision for future expansion. By using Power Xpert IGX, which is only 20 inches wide, Eaton reduced the e-house price by only needing to expand by 13 feet compared to 28 feet needed for other 38kV solutions.

Eaton project management for both solutions. Eaton’s field-based project management teams take full ownership of the e-house and all equipment in it from the date of purchase through commissioning onsite. The team located locally to the customer coordinates schedules, drawing reviews and executing the full project within Eaton’s scope.
