Meet the increasing demands of the electrification of transportation

Utilities are challenged to meet the increased load demands that come with increased EV adoption while ensuring a safe and reliable power grid.

The very nature of EV charging introduces a number of challenges to what is required to ensure a safe, reliable power distribution system. EV charging can create voltage sags, increased chances of unbalancing and overloading of power system components (cables and transformers) and increases in power losses and harmonic distortion. In addition, it can contribute to the deterioration of voltage and current transients during faulty conditions.

As EV adoption increases, you need better access to information on where and when EVs are charging so that you can implement different strategies to shift charging load away from peak hours.

Built by Eaton’s Center for Intelligent Power (CIP) and leveraging the Brightlayer platform for deployment of cloud-based business intelligence, Eaton’s EV detection offering will help you harness the power of accurate digital models to improve your outage management and capacity planning processes.
