SOUTHFIELD, Mich.— Intelligent power management company Eaton today announced it will showcase a series of drivetrain and hydraulic innovations at NTEA Work Truck Week 2026, March 10-13 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The technologies, on display at booth #1943, are designed to reduce driveline stress, simplify ordering and installation and solve real-world challenges for fleets, dealers and upfitters.
Featured solutions include Eaton’s hot shift PTO with available soft start technology, newly revamped Allison Transmission and Daimler Truck AG wet kits and the redesigned 3400 Series hot shift PTO.
Across our PTO and wet kit portfolio, the focus is simple: smarter design, easier adoption and real value for the customer. We’re listening to the market and delivering solutions that improve reliability, reduce complexity and give fleets capabilities they can’t get anywhere else.
Hot shift PTO soft start
Eaton’s hot shift PTO soft start is engineered to significantly reduce shock loads during PTO engagement. Unlike a conventional hot shift PTO that engages instantly, the soft start electronically ramps engagement over milliseconds. The change is nearly imperceptible to the operator but meaningfully reduces stress on the driveline and hydraulic system.
By minimizing sudden torque spikes, the soft start helps protect against premature component wear and driveline failures, particularly in high-inertia applications such as blowers and other demanding hydraulic loads. The result is greater reliability, lower maintenance risk and extended component life without sacrificing the convenience of push-button hot shift activation.
Hot shift PTO for Endurant transmission
Eaton is the only manufacturer offering a true hot shift PTO for the Endurant automated manual transmission, addressing a long-standing gap in the market.
Developed and validated through extensive testing, this rear-mounted solution delivers full hot shift functionality without excessive drag on transmission components. The design makes it well suited for tag axle systems, emergency shutoff functions and compressor-driven applications where immediate engagement is critical.
By delivering a capability previously considered unavailable for the platform, Eaton reinforces its leadership in PTO innovation while providing customers with a differentiated solution.
Allison and Daimler wet kits
Eaton’s revamped wet kit portfolio for Allison and Daimler applications is built around a streamlined part-number system that bundles the correct PTO, tank and key components into a single application-specific kit.
Designed with dealership counter staff and upfitters in mind, the system reduces guesswork and simplifies specification for applications such as end dumps, walking floors and lowboys. By entering key application details, dealers can quickly identify one complete part number that delivers a ready-to-install solution.
3400 Series hot shift PTO
The redesigned 3400 Series hot shift PTO for Allison 1000 and 2000 series transmissions features a more compact housing to improve clearance in tight chassis configurations. The updated design addresses packaging challenges commonly faced by body builders and upfitters.
In addition, the 3400 Series incorporates quiet technology to enhance operator experience while maintaining dependable hot-shift performance. The combination of improved packaging and refined operation makes it well suited for space-constrained work truck applications.
