GALESBURG, Mich. … Intelligent power management company Eaton today announced nine of its Vehicle Group and eMobility global facilities have been recognized by Eaton as a World Class Manufacturing site. Being named a World Class Manufacturing facility requires exemplary performance against Eaton's qualifying metrics in safety, quality, on-time delivery, inventory, and flexible productivity.

One of the plants receiving the honor is Eaton’s site in Tczew, Poland. 

Eaton’s Tczew facility overcomes obstacles to ensure quality, productivity 

The plant recently has encountered its share of obstacles, beginning with the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain challenges, inflation, and regional geopolitical issues. Flexibility within the plant is important to navigate these obstacles, but you can only be flexible by empowering your workforce to do the right things. So, accountability and ensuring everyone is highly motivated at all levels allows the Tczew team to succeed in challenging environments. 

“With COVID and other interruptions from one day to another, you can't always be fully prepared,” said Adam Dulak, Tczew plant manager. “But our flexibility is so high that we know how to work efficiently in such a difficult environment.”

For decades before Eaton purchased the plant in 1998, it had the singular purpose of building transmissions. Because of the highly capable workforce the Tczew facility provides, Eaton has added a number of new products, including superchargers, differentials, fuel emissions valves, and now electrified vehicle components. Eaton also continues to modernize the facility, most recently integrating Industry 4.0 technologies, including automated guided vehicles, COBOTs and 3D printers. To assist with the transition, the plant has added new people with the appropriate skills to implement the Industry 4.0 technologies Eaton is rolling out on a global basis.  

Eaton’s Tczew team is not only concerned about manufacturing quality components, but also the communities in which it resides. Throughout its history, the facility has supported numerous charitable activities, including: 

• Corporate contributions donated to the Tczew City Council and the “Tczew for Ukraine” foundation to assist in refugee hosting programs and humanitarian aid. 
• Eaton’s “Matching Gift” plant fundraising event, which resulted in shopping vouchers for refugees whom Eaton employees are hosting at their homes.
• Eaton employees collected boxes of humanitarian aid, including food, personal hygiene products, first aid kits, torches, and safety gloves for clearing debris. 
• Eaton Tczew covered the cost of fuel to continue deliveries of the “Tczew for Ukraine” city collection to the Ukrainian border.
