Eaton Expands its Flextray Cable Management Solution with Innovative Labor Saving Accessories for Contractors

Date: August 9, 2016

HIGHLAND, IL — Power management company Eaton today introduced an expanded and enhanced offering of Flextray™ accessories that help minimize labor and time on cable management installations. Along with the enhanced solutions, Eaton has reduced the splicing hardware required to achieve Underwriters Laboratories (UL) classified electrical grounding capability by up to 50 percent which helps save contractors valuable time and money when completing commercial cable management installations.

“Eaton’s innovative Flextray accessories are designed with the contractor in mind. We focused on making installations faster for contractors by reducing jobsite labor while maintaining the maximum flexibility Flextray is known for,” said Patrick Keller, product line manager for Eaton’s B-Line Business. “For example, the new corner radius requires 78 fewer jobsite cuts as compared to a traditional 4”x12” horizontal bend with 12” radius.”

Eaton’s highly flexible Flextray system is field-adaptable, making it simple to manage cables throughout most commercial and data center cable installation projects. The products feature a wire basket tray that can be easily cut and bent, allowing cable runs to be quickly adjusted on the jobsite. The new and enhanced wire basket accessories include a corner radius support, bottom and side drop outs, and blind ends.

First, the corner radius support reduces the need for field fabrication when creating a radiused fitting by up to 80 percent compared to traditional field fabrication techniques. The built-in tab feature allows the contractor to correctly position the corner radius support and minimize the hardware required to connect. Available in both 6-inch and 12-inch radius configurations, the corner radius support creates a smooth bend radius for cables at any horizontal bend, tee or cross location.

Next, the bottom drop out and blind end products have been enhanced for toolless installation with new built-in tab features that position and lock the product into the proper position without having to utilize any connecting hardware.

Finally, the new side drop out (available in 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch lengths) helps maintain a cable’s proper bend radius when cables are required to exit up and over the side rail of the Flextray system. The pre-punched holes allow for proper cable restraint at the drop out point to ensure individual and bundled cables do not have excessive cable strain that can reduce the efficiency of the cable’s performance.

An ideal solution for many indoor commercial and data center cable management applications, the Flextray system combines strength, lightweight construction, depth, and unmatched adaptability to support various cable, tubing, and piping applications in a quick and economical way.
