We're helping create electrical systems that meet today’s requirements and anticipate tomorrow’s energy and sustainability challenges

We are focused on demonstrating our innovative technology and digital intelligence that is helping drive the energy transition.  Our solutions are aiding in future-proofing the world’s electrical infrastructure and safely and securely adapting to fast-changing regulations and industry standards.

Our Everything as a Grid approach can re-vamp infrastructures and homes to manage and optimize renewable integration for sustainable power.

The energy transition is well underway.

What do you need your electrical infrastructure to do? Chances are, it’s a lot more than what it used to be. Simply getting power safely delivered from the grid to your home, operations and building loads is not enough anymore.

Eaton is leading this transformation. We’ve taken the “Everything as a Grid” approach to the energy transition and are unlocking a low-carbon energy future. We’ve been helping customers safely add more renewables, storage and electric vehicle infrastructure to their energy mix—to become more sustainable and resilient while lowering energy costs.

Renewable and battery market shares continue to rise and play a larger role in the global power supply, even in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The challenge lies in balancing variable renewable power and storage options against the always-there, always-on power users demand. By helping utilities and building managers adopt renewable power and storage strategies, we're helping to make clean energy available when and where it’s needed.

xStorage 400

Eaton’s xStorage 400 energy storage system helps meet the rise in energy demand at commercial and industrial facilities.  The need for Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) is a result of electrification and the shift to renewables. xStorage 400 helps facility owners and operators offset the cost of the rising energy demand. In addition, it can generate revenue as it acts as an asset on the local grid.

EnergyAware UPS

Our EnergyAware technology helps applications, like data centers, support energy providers by balancing sustainable power generation and consumption. The technology optimizes power usage during peak demand hours and helps facilities earn additional revenues from currently deployed assets while maintaining complete control of deployed uninterruptible power systems and batteries.

Power Xpert energy optimizer controller

Our Power Xpert Energy Optimizer controller is a microgrid/energystorage control system that simplifies control system configuration, is pre-engineered for device and system testing, and is adaptable to changing microgrid assets. The controller is programmed and ready to maintain overall system stability, shave peak demand, shift loads, manage black starts, achieve lowest total cost of operation, maximize renewable energy contribution and provide utility demand response functionality.

Eaton to speak at ESA 2021

Join us as Eaton's energy transition leader discusses our very own microgrid model for energy resilience

As communities like Puerto Rico double down on renewable commitments amid worsening extreme weather, they must consider the most efficient systems. The solar and storage microgrid model proves clean energy and reliability go hand-in-hand.  In December 2020, Enel X and power management company Eaton partnered to develop a microgrid at Eaton’s factory in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, supporting the island’s targets of at least 3,500MW of solar and more than 1,300MW of storage by 2025.

Eaton's Q&A with ESA:  Insights to energy storage and how it supports resiliency

With recent events shining a renewed spotlight on the necessity for resilience, how is energy storage uniquely positioned to be a key component for resiliency in the electric grid?

Energy resilience is taking on new meaning as extreme weather events impact communities. Resilience is the ability to recover quickly. And it requires that we prepare for the unexpected, especially as unusual conditions become more common. Energy storage is critical to support resilience, together with renewables, intelligent controls and decentralized generation.

At Eaton, we’re creating electrical systems that meet today’s energy requirements and anticipate tomorrow’s energy challenges:

  • Leading microgrid development, with projects around the world that optimize where, when and how electricity is consumed
  • Transforming dormant energy assets for emergency power to also provide intelligent grid-connected energy storage
  • Bolstering the power distribution backbone essential to operations

How is your company supporting the resiliency goals for the electric grid?

Resilience is about staying operational for our homes, communities, businesses and institutions. At Eaton, we know the focus on resilience is vital because we’ve been helping make energy infrastructure resilient for years—safely adding energy storage, renewables and electric vehicle infrastructure for customers and at our facilities. We have taken an Everything as a Grid approach to the energy transition that is increasing and optimizing the energy the world relies on.

Our unique ability to improve resilience both behind and in front of the meter is essential for our customers, whether we’re helping utilities like Southern California Edison streamline renewable integration or creating more flexible power systems to expand healthcare treatment capacity.

We’ve also taken the lead on developing microgrids for customers and at our own manufacturing and education centers. Recently, we announced a project to deploy a microgrid at our manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico that will support more sustainable and resilient power. The project includes solar and energy storage that enables us to share clean energy back onto the regional grid.

Eaton is helping our customers prepare for and continue to operate with reliable, resilient power. Even during a pandemic, a major storm or both. You can count on our expertise and solutions to power what matters.
