Eaton’s MPCV NXG Network Protector Relay, featuring enhancements for the modern network grid, is a direct replacement for any type or vintage network protector. This relay features Eaton’s network relay DER algorithm which can differentiate between tripping reverse current and a customer generated power source.

The MPCV-NXG network protector relay represents the next generation in network protector relay technology while continuing to offer the most popular features from previous Eaton MPCV series network protector relays.

One Algorithm, Multiple Applications

Developed collaboratively with Eaton’s Microgrid & DER Control Platform group, the MPCV-NXG relay has the capability of identifying the type of backfeed. An accompanied external enclosure injects reactive power.

DER (Distributed Energy Resources)

Anomalies (abnormal conditions) are flagged while generation is identified as a normal system conditions. Generation flows back without desensitizing the network relay functionality or the use of additional expensive monitoring relays on the system.

FDR (Feeders from Different Substations)

The algorithm manages corrections using the same analysis from the DER model.
