XN Safety modular safety programmable logic controller

Eaton’s XN Safety® is a modular system that includes a safety programmable logic controller (PLC) and safety input/output (I/O) modules, providing a cost-effective solution for safety-related applications of low to medium complexity. With its compact design, easy installation, and seamless integration, XN Safety offers a versatile and modular solution for applications which require functional safety. The XN Safety devices  process safety-related signals from components like emergency-stop buttons and light curtains, supporting the control, operation, and diagnostics of safety systems in machine production. In addition, it can be easily integrated with Eaton’s existing XC PLCs and XN300 I/O portfolio.

Ultimate flexibility and seamless integration

XN Safety PLC XS-102 allows for flexible safety logic, offering a wide variety of certified function blocks for any application. It simplifies installation and reduces setup time with its compact design and tool-free wiring. It can be used as a standalone safety PLC for low-complexity applications but also seamlessly integrated with an XC PLC for more advanced needs. By utilizing an XN300 Gateway, it can also be integrated remotely with any PLC via fieldbus/Ethernet. Both options enable the exchange of non-safety critical data with the standard PLC. Comprehensive safety-relevant characteristic values are provided for our components in Sistema and VDMA-XML format, making it easier to access and utilize essential safety information.

Customizable automation

Offering unparallelled flexibility and scalability, the XN Safety I/O slice modules allow users to create customized automation solutions. The portfolio includes digital as well as analog I/O modules, including relay output modules and encoder inputs. Seamlessly integrating with the XN Safety PLC XS-102, these modules provide a cohesive and modular safety control system. Supporting up to 16 I/O slices, the modular design allows for easy expansion, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Compatibility with Eaton’s XN300 I/O system maintains a uniform and attractive design across the automation setup.

Intuitive programming

XN Safety Designer software enables intuitive and easy programming, configuration and diagnostics of the XN Safety system. With its user-friendly interface, programming is straightforward and efficient. Including all relevant safety function blocks and supporting online monitoring and debugging, the software also allows quick and efficient commissioning. For added convenience, the XN Safety Designer is available for free download.
